Robert Taylor's ancestry - are you related?
Our common ancestor is Jacob Bruch (changed to Brugh in America), son of Hermanus and Catherine Bruch/Brugh. Hermanus and Catharina arrived in Philadelphia, PA in Sept. 1743 on the ship "Lydia" mastered by Capt. Abercrombie, from the Palatinate region of Germany. They settled in York County, PA. I have more details on this choice which I will share later. Our line eventually changed the surname spelling to Brough around the time of the Civil War.
Jacob's brother Daniel moved his family down to the Botetort County, VA, area where several still live today. They kept the Brugh spelling.
