Hello, All:
I've been asked about the new "Gifts" feature showing up on our site. I know very little about it -- seems it's a new function of Ning, the network on which this site is hosted. As best I can understand, network operators (aka me) can create "gifts", ie, graphics, & members can then use "points" to "buy" these gifts. Keep in mind--this is all virtual. Your gifts appear to be nothing more than graphics you can then put on your page. I see it as probably a way to monetize the appl…

Hello All:
Thought I'd drop in & update you on what I did in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. As I mentioned, I spoke to a group called the Hollywood Congress of Republicans. It was a sympathetic audience to the life Robert Taylor led, his conservative beliefs, & his concern for his America. There was much interest in our favorite movie star. That itself was a great part of my overall trip.
However, a sidebar to my trip was funny, delightful, & an absolute thrill. I visited Bob's gr…

Hello, all! A few days ago, I did a radio interview with a LA Talk Radio show called The London Garcia Show. London's a fantastic host & along with her co-host, Marti, we had a lively discussion about Robert Taylor & Hollywood of yesteryear. The interview went very well ... if you have about 50 minutes, please do give it a listen.
NOTE: The 1st few minutes are taken up by a theme song & banter between the hosts, mostly talking about Bob & his career. Don't let all the music thro…

Hello to all our Robert Taylor fans. Hope you're having a grand new week & that all is well in your worlds.
I'd like to suggest that we all do a Robert Taylor blitz. Make contact w/your online friends, & friends & family everywhere, & ask them to join our forum here. Especially the folks you know who are classic movie & TV fans. More members to our group will mean not only more commentary--a good thing--but also better rankings in the search engines & then, as the cycle…

How many of us have seen "Song of Russia?" Since Tim, of our group here, asked about the Robert Taylor Building on the Lorimar lot & his name being removed because of political beliefs (listed in the "Always dignified" thread), it got me to thinking about this.
First, on a totally superficial level, there are a number of shots of Bob w/his hair pseudo-mussed. Looks great . . . curls which apparently, unleashed, were determined to hang loose over his forehead.
On a more serious not--Bob not…

A few months ago, I had an article published at a great classic movie site, The Midnight Palace. The article took form when I began to wonder about the actual turn of events when Robert Taylor & Barbara Stanwyck met. While we know some of the specifics--where they met, who they were with they met, & a few other tidbits--we can never really know the blow-by-blow details of that evening. There is no direct accounting of that now-legendary introduction, so we are dependent on logical fact-b…

This is a link that point-blank and states that those folks who were worried & publicly petitioning against Communism prior to WWII--Robert Taylor being one, as we here all know--were justified in their concerns. While this audio clip does not mention Taylor--heck, it doesn't even mention J. Parnell Thomas or Martin Dies or Ronald Reagan or any of the earlier players--it does give voice . . . on today, the 4th of July, of all days . . . to the reality that Bob Taylor & his compatriots we…

I want to announce a fantastic opportunity confirmed moments ago. Our wonderful group member, Jeff Wayne, contacted me awhile ago & suggested my book might be a topic for a meeting of the Hollywood Congress of Republicans. They're an organized voice for Hollywood Republicans, usually a relatively quiet group. It's made up of working actors & others in various facets of the entertainment industry (including Jeff), as well as conservatives who simply believe there should be multi-views…

[THIS IS ALSO POSTED IN THE "FORUM" SECTION -- POSTED HERE SO IT IS IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE]
I thought it worth adding a note here to further explain my thoughts about a potential posthumous Robert Taylor Academy Award. While I won't reveal sources right now, I have it on good authority that just prior to Bob's death, after it was well-known that he wasn't going to live, someone in the film industry went to a then-high ranking official with the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sc…

Hello Folks:
Wanted to let everyone know that I did an interview w/Dick Dinman, host of a radio program called DVD Classics. Dick knows all things about classic films & Bob Taylor is one of his absolute favorites. He interviewed me a few weeks ago, with the release of that interview to coincide with the official release of QUO VADIS on DVD Blu-Ray just a few days ago.
We chatted about Taylor's involvment in the HUAC meetings & his sense of what was going wrong in the United States a…

Hello Fellow Taylor Fans!
This group is slowly starting to grow. We have more than most of our members who have chosen what I call the "Bob Head" as their photo . . . & I love to see all of those Bob Heads every time I come onto the site! Makes me smile big-time.
I think it'd be nice if we gave some mini-introductions of who we are--where we live, what we do for a living, if we have kids, how long we've enjoyed Robert Taylor & his movies . . . and anything that you might want to sha…
